IDENTIFYING DOWRY ABUSE IN AUSTRALIA

The Indian (Sub-Cont) Crisis & Support Agency, began it's journey to campaign against Dowry Abuse in 2014. 

Women coming to Australia as new brides being abandoned just before getting their residencies.  While their partners gained significant financial benefit from the arrangement.

Dowry was being practiced in Australia with impunity.

​

Dowry alone is not necessarily a problem, but the abuse to elicit more is.  That is a form of Domestic and Family Violence.

These young women were being exploited financially, physically and emotionally abused and then left to their own devices to even stay in Australia.

​

We know more today about Dowry Abuse and it is an ongoing journey to address this pervasive form of abuse.
